Report: Tottenham could hire 55-year-old alongside Mauricio Pochettino

Estadio Deportivo have revealed that Getafe sporting director Romano Planes could be hired by Tottenham to work in tandem with Mauricio Pochettino.

After Fabio Paratici’s ban was extended to all leagues around the world by FIFA earlier in the week, Spurs announced on Friday that the Italian has agreed to take an immediate leave of absence pending the outcome of his appeal, which will be held on April 19.

Over the last few days, some Spanish outlets have suggested that Tottenham are eyeing Planes as a potential replacement for the 50-year-old (Fichajes).

COPE even suggested that Spurs would not find it difficult to snap up the Spaniard if they showed interest as Getafe president Angel Torres ‘will not put any impediment’ in place should Planes decide that he wants to join the North London club.

Estadio Deportivo have now become the latest publication to discuss the possibility of Planes joining Tottenham.

The publication states that even though the 55-year-old is expected to leave Getafe in the summer and is said to be attracting interest from Real Betis, he wants to take his time before deciding on his next destination.

Spurs are named as a potential option, with the outlet asserting that the Spaniard could join Mauricio Pochetitno in N17, with the Argentine poised to take over as head coach.

I do not think Tottenham would appoint a new sporting director until Paratici’s appeal is heard later this month.

However, one would expect Daniel Levy to already be contacting potential replacements for the 50-year-old as that is a position that has to be solved before the club resumes their hunt for a new head coach.
