Report: Tottenham could make move for Atletico Madrid player this summer

Mundo Deportivo have claimed that Atletico Madrid centre-back Mario Hermoso is on Tottenham’s radar ahead of the summer transfer window.

Hermoso was a fixture in the Atletico backline last season and played a key part in their march to the La Liga title.

However, the Spain international has fallen down the pecking order since the arrival of Reinildo Mandava in January and has found game time hard to come by over recent months.

Tottenham are reportedly in the market for a left-sided centre-back to compete with Ben Davies this summer (The Athletic), with reports from a couple of weeks ago suggesting that Hermoso is one of the names on The North London club’s radar (The Daily Mail).

This has now been backed up by Mundo Deportivo, who state that Antonio Conte’s men could make a move for the 26-year-old, who has two years left on his contract at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium.

The report adds that while Hermoso is happy at Atletico, the centre-back could consider his future this summer in light of his lack of game time over recent months.

Spurs Web Opinion

Hermoso would be a terrific fit for the left centre-back role and is as good as any of the names we have been linked with, including Alessandro Bastoni and Pau Torres.

However, the question is whether Atletico would want to let such a valuable squad player go. One would assume that Diego Simeone’s side would consider a decent offer for the defender this summer if he does not sign a new contract.
