Report: Tottenham could make offer to bring former star back to the club

Fichajes journalist Ekrem Konur has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are interested in bringing Luka Modric back to the club.

Modric spent four seasons at White Hart Lane after arriving from Dinamo Zagreb in 2008 before Jose Mourinho, who was then in charge at Real Madrid, took him from Spurs to the La Liga giants.

The Croat will go down as one of the best players in Los Blancos’ history, having helped them win four Champions League titles among a whole host of other accolades.

Despite being 36 years of age, the former Spurs main remains a mainstay in Madrid’s midfield but he is now into the final six months of his contract in the Spanish capital.

Konur has now explained that Carlo Ancelotti’s side are in talks with Modric over a new deal, with the club wanting to extend his contract until 2023.

However, the journalist adds that Spurs could make the midfielder an offer should he fail to extend his stay at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Despite his age, Modric remains extremely fit and still covers a lot of distance every game. So, I do believe he will be able to cope with the demands of Conte’s style of play. However, I suspect that Conte and Paratici will be looking at players of a younger profile as part of their rebuild.
