Report: Tottenham could now consider a move for English manager

The Daily Mail have now revealed that Graham Potter has once again emerged as a target for Tottenham Hotspur after the club’s pursuit of Arne Slot collapsed on Thursday.

Now that Arne Slot looks set to stay in Feyenoord, it appears as though Tottenham are back to square one in their search for a new head coach.

Since the news of the Dutchman’s decision emerged yesterday, multiple outlets have suggested that Tottenham could now turn to Celtic’s Ange Postecoglou (Independent) while Luis Enrique and Sporting Lisbon coach Ruben Amorim have also been mooted as potential options (The Athletic).

The Times even suggested yesterday that the North London club could consider reigniting their interest in Julian Nagelsmann after ending talks with the German two weeks ago.

The Mail have now alleged that along with the aforementioned names, Potter has now emerged as an option for the North London club.

The 48-year-old has been out of work since being dismissed by Chelsea at the start of April and Daniel Levy had previously tried to appoint him back in 2021 before eventually settling for Nuno Espirito Santo (90 min).

Potter’s struggles s at Chelsea do not mean he has suddenly become a bad coach but the 48-year-old did seem to have a hard time coping with the pressure of the job at Stamford Bridge, which might put off Tottenham.

In addition, the optics of hiring another manager who has failed at the West London club would not be great for Spurs, which is why I would be surprised if the Lilywhites pursue the English coach.
