Report: Tottenham could sign Real Madrid defender on loan for cut-price fee

According to a report by Spanish news outlet Defensa Central, Real Madrid could allow Eder Militao to join Tottenham Hotspur on loan until the end of the season.

Militao was reportedly a target for Spurs during the summer transfer window but the defender ended up remaining at Real Madrid.

The former Porto man has struggled for game time this season, having made just three appearances so far for the Spanish giants in all competitions.

AS previously claimed that Jose Mourinho is an admirer of the 22-year-old and wants to bring him to North London this month to boost his central defensive options.

Defensa Central report that Los Blancos would be willing to let Militao go since the defender is not in Zinedine Zidane’s plans.

The report suggests that Madrid would even be willing to sanction a loan deal for the Brazilian until the end of the season.

It is suggested that Tottenham could land the centre-back on a temporary deal if they are willing to cover his wages and pay a fee of around €2.5m (£2.2m).

Signing Militao on a loan deal with an option to buy at the end of the season would be preferable to a permanent transfer for Spurs given how the defender has struggled for form since joining Real Madrid.
