Report: Tottenham could turn attention to France international in January

The Daily Express have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur may consider a move for Bayern Munich right-back Benjamin Pavard in January.

Reports over recent days have backed Spurs to be in the market for a right wing-back in January, with 90 min claiming on Thursday that Antonio Conte wants to ‘overhaul’ the position.

The publication suggested that Spurs were contemplating re-signing Kyle Walker-Peters from Southampton and were also monitoring Norwich City’s Max Aarons.

Meanwhile, reports from Italy over recent days have suggested that Conte could raid his former club for Denzel Dumfries (CMW).

If the Express’ latest update is to be believed, the Lilywhites could turn to Pavard to solve their issues at right wing-back.

The report states that the Bayern star is ready to leave the Allianz Arena and could be on the move in January since he has only 18 months left on his contract.

The 26-year-old has made 20 appearances across all competitions for Julian Nagelsmann’s side so far this season (Transfermarkt).

Pavard would not be a good fit for the right wing-back role and is arguably better suited to playing as a right-back in a back four. The Frenchman could be used as a right centre-back in Antonio Conte’s system but there are certainly better options out there for that role.
