Report: Tottenham decide what they want to do with Mikey Moore this summer

Tottenham Hotspur clearly want to keep Mikey Moore involved with the first team and the youngster will be part of the pre-season tour of Japan and Korea. But, the club will release the teenager to play for England Under-17s at the European Championships rather than taking him to Australia.

Moore has been thriving in the Spurs Under-18 side this season, registering 16 goals and nine assists in just 15 games (Transfermarkt).

For the last month, the 16-year-old has been training with the first team, with Ange Postecoglou wanting him close to the action. Moore was then named on the bench for the three games against Chelsea, Liverpool, and Burnley, but didn’t make it onto the pitch.

That changed on Tuesday night when Moore made his senior debut for the Lilywhites in the Premier League clash with Manchester City. The youngster got a handful of minutes under his belt, coming on as a late substitute in the defeat there.

Mikey Moore will travel to Asia with Spurs

It remains to be seen how much of a part Moore will play in Sunday’s season-closer against Sheffield United, but we do know more about his plans for the summer after that.

In a report from Football.London, it is revealed Spurs were keen to keep Moore in the squad for the trip to Melbourne next week and the friendly against Newcastle United. Instead, Tottenham will release Moore to play for England Under-17s in the upcoming European Championships.

However, it is expected Moore will be part of the pre-season squad for the trip to Japan and Korea, as Spurs look to “help him take further steps in his development.”

Spurs Web Opinion

What an end to the season for Mikey Moore this is. I really hope we see more of him on Sunday against Sheffield United — I would give him a good 30 minutes run there, especially if we have the result tied up.
