Report: Tottenham defender edging closer to exit in the January window

It looks like Tottenham defender Kyle Walker-Peters may have already played his last game in a Spurs shirt.

The defender has been heavily linked with a move away from the club this month and the Sun now report that he is edging closer to a move to Crystal Palace.

Walker-Peters has hardly seen any game since the arrival of Jose Mourinho with Serge Aurier having established himself as the club’s starting right back.

The report in the Sun claims that Spurs are keen to move the 22-year-old on. It is revealed that Palace thought they had sealed the deal to sign the defender earlier this month only for Spurs to backtrack later.

It is suggested that Southampton also came in for the youngster thus complicating the deal futher.

However, it now asserted that Palace will likely win the race for him in the coming days. While the Eagles are said to prefer a loan with an option to buy, it is revealed that Tottenham prefer to sell Walker-Peters permanently.

Spurs Web Opinion

It does seem as if Jose Mourinho has taken a look at Walker-Peters and decided that he doesn’t fancy him which isn’t a surprise considering the Portuguese tends to prefer strong and quick defenders. A move to Palace will suit the youngster well and I believe he has the talent to establish himself as a regular for the Eagles.
