Report: Tottenham defender wants out

Tottenham Hotspur defender Serge Aurier is reportedly keen to quit North London and head back to the continent.

According to the Daily Mail, the right-back is attracting interest from former club Paris Saint-Germain along with clubs in Italy.

Aurier has recently undergone hand surgery after sustaining the injury while on international duty with the Ivory Coast at the African Cup of Nations (Spurs official).

With Kieran Trippier having been sold to Atletico Madrid it would have been expected that he would have been given more opportunity to play along with Kyle Walker-Peters, but it appears that he wants to depart the Champions League finalists.

He moved to Tottenham in the summer of 2017 from PSG for £23million but has failed to make an impression (BBC).

His ability to show a huge lapse of defensive concentration has cost us dearly in the past along with his inability to even take an effective throw-in without it being deemed as a foul throw.

Opinion

While Aurier’s absence would leave us hugely short of cover at right-back, his departure would certainly be welcome.
