Report: Tottenham defender’s loan move could be cut short in January

Stade Rennais Online have now revealed that Joe Rodon’s loan spell at Rennes could be cut short in January.

Rodon joined Rennes on a season-long loan deal in the summer, with the Ligue 1 club having the option to make the deal permanent for £16.7m (TEAMtalk).

However, Stade Rennais Online claim that the centre-back’s spell in France could now come to a premature end next month.

It is explained that Christopher Wooh and Arthur Theate are Bruno Genesio’s preferred first-choice centre-back pairing and that the on-loan Tottenham man has now slipped down to the fourth choice after Warmed Omari’s return from injury.

The report states that Rodon only joined Renens with the aim of getting regular game time under his belt and does not want to spend the second part of the campaign on the bench.

The French club are thus said to be considering ending the loan agreement in January and it is asserted that Spurs may find another loan move for Wales international next month.

Unfortunately for Rodon, the loan move to Rennes does not seem to have worked out. On the back of his struggles for game time at the Ligue 1 club, I do not think too many Premier League clubs are likely to show interest in the centre-back in January.
