Report: Tottenham express interest in centre-back valued at over £50m

Jeunes Footeux have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are one of several clubs who have expressed an interest in West Ham United centre-back, Nayef Aguerd.

Aguerd joined the Hammers in a £30m deal from Rennes last summer, and the defender missed the first couple of months of the campaign with an ankle injury.

However, the centre-back has established himself as a mainstay of the Hammers backline since returning to fitness and is having an excellent debut campaign in the Premier League.

Jeunes Footeux state that Aguerd’s performances have caught the eyes of Spurs, Liverpool and Manchester United ahead of the summer transfer window.

It is explained that Tottenham are keen on signing a left-sided centre-back this summer as they are not planning on getting Clement Lenglet permanently, with the North London club alleged to have identified the Moroccan as their top target.

The report asserts that David Moyes’ men would have to sell some of their assets if they fail to qualify for Europe this season, given the amount they have invested into the squad during recent transfer windows.

However, it is asserted that they would demand a fee of €55m- €60m (£48.1m – £52.5m) for Aguerd.

We have to take these transfer links with a pinch of salt as the club would not make any decision regarding their targets before Paratici’s future and the managerial situation is resolved.

Even if Spurs reach out to potential targets at the moment, there might be some reluctance from the players to join without any clarity on which manager they would be playing under.
