Tottenham Hotspur are considering Barcelona director of football Mateu Alemany as a potential option as their successor for Fabio Paratici, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Barcelona made the surprise announcement confirming Alemany’s departure from the Catalan giants following the closure of the summer transfer window on September 2nd and will be replaced by former midfielder Deco.
It is not the first time Alemany has been linked with a move to the Premier League after he was reportedly close to taking up a role at Aston Villa back in June before they decided to proceed with their appointment of Sevilla’s Monchi after the 60-year-old had initially agreed to make the switch to before he U-turned and pledged his commitment to his role at the Camp Nou.
Spurs could turn to Mateu Alemany as next director of football
Tottenham have been without a senior transfer figure since the departure of Fabio Paratici, at least in an official capacity came to an abrupt end back in April when he resigned from his position after losing an appeal in Italy against his 30-month ban from the game.
Paratici was spotted in attendance at Tottenham’s Premier League opener at Brentford last weekend, with Football.London revealing the Italian remains involved with the North Londoners on a consultancy role after FIFA lifted some elements of his ban.
Romano wrote on Twitter/X: “Tottenham considering Mateu Alemany as potential option as new Director of Football starting from September.
