Report: Tottenham eyeing a move for 17-year-old Ajax starlet – Arsenal want his brother

TEAMtalk have revealed that a number of English clubs are keeping an eye on Ajax goalkeepers Charlie and Tommy Setford, who are brothers, with Tottenham particularly interested in the latter.

Charlie, 19, and Tommy, 17, have both come through the ranks of Ajax’s famed youth system and despite spending all their lives in the Netherlands, the pair have chosen to represent England.

While Charlie has represented England at the Under-18 level, Tommy recently featured for the country at the Under-17 World Cup.

The older brother has even been named in Ajax’s matchday squads for Eredivisie and Champions League matches this season but he is yet to make his senior debut.

It has emerged that a number of English clubs are closely watching both goalkeepers and are plotting to bring them to the Premier League.

Tottenham are looking at Tommy Setford

TEAMtalk state that Tottenham and Newcastle United have been doing plenty of homework on Tommy and could battle for his signature while Arsenal, Liverpool and West Ham United are alleged to be interested in Charlie.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are said to be keeping tabs on both goalkeepers ahead of the January transfer window.

Spurs Web Opinion

It sounds like there is likely to be a major scramble between the top-flight clubs for the Setford brothers in January. I am not surprised Spurs are in the thick of it, given the club’s relatively recent transfer strategy of competing for the best young talent from around the globe.
