Report: Tottenham eyeing cut-price deal for Serie A midfielder

Tottenham Hotspur have not added a single player to their squad in the last two transfer windows but if reports are to be believed, Daniel Levy is said to be ready to loosen his purse strings in the summer, ahead of what will be the club’s first full season at the new stadium.

While there are several areas within the squad that need to be addressed, arguably none is more urgent than in the middle of midfield, where Spurs are short on numbers after the sale of Mousa Dembele in January.

Tottenham have been linked with a number of central midfielders in the past few weeks including the likes of AC Milan’s Franck Kessie and Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish.

The latest midfielder to be linked with the club is Torino midfielder Soualiho Meite. According to Gazette dello Sport, the 25-year-old who has had a fantastic season so far will be available for €25-30 million in the summer, and Tottenham are keen on adding him to the squad.

The Frenchman who moved from Monaco for £9 million last summer has demonstrated that he has the pace, power and technical ability to compete at the highest level.

While Meite will not be a signing that excites fans, he will certainly prove to be a valuable addition to the Tottenham squad.
