Report: Tottenham eyeing French sensation but face intense competition

HITC have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are plotting a move for Lyon starlet Rayan Cherki but they would have to beat out considerable competition to land the youngster.

Cherki impressed after breaking into Lyon’s senior side earlier this season, ending the campaign quite strongly, showcasing his guile and technical quality on the ball.

Although an attacking midfielder by trade, the 20-year-old can also operate in either flank and can make an impact in the final third, scoring three goals and registering eight assists in 2023-24.

HITC say that a number of Premier League sides are plotting a summer move for Cherki, with Tottenham being among his admirers.

Tottenham are interested in Rayan Cherki

Ange Postecoglou’s men could potentially face competition from Newcastle United, Chelsea and Brentford, who have all been impressed by the France Under-21 international’s displays at the Groupama Stadium.

However, it is explained that the most stringent competition might come from Paris Saint-Germain, who are expected to continue their policy of securing the best young talent in France.

The Lyon youngster is said to be on the radar of the Parisians, who are expected to make a move for him this summer if they lose Xavi Simons.

Spurs Web Opinion

Cherki has shown plenty of promise and looks destined to become a star in the next couple of years. However, I doubt Tottenham would get involved in a bidding war for the 20-year-old as a number ten is not as big a priority for Postecoglou’s men as some other positions.
