Report: Tottenham eyeing move for 27-year-old Portugal international

GiveMeSport have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur hold an interest in signing Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha.

Antonio Conte has four trusted central midfield options at his disposal in the form of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Rodrigo Bentancur, Yves Bissouma and Oliver Skipp while Papa Matar Sarr also demonstrated plenty of promise in the games against Crystal Palace and Portsmouth.

Despite this, the North London club continue to be linked with central midfielders, with the likes of Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat (Foot Mercato), Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister (CMW.it) and Saussolo’s Davide Frattesi (TMW) all mooted as targets over recent weeks.

Now another name has been put forward in the form of Palhinha, who has impressed since leaving Sporting Lisbon to join Fulham in the summer.

GiveMeSport have claimed that the Portugal international’s consistency at Craven Cottage has caught the attention of some big hitters including Spurs.

The report adds that Conte’s men could face competition from Liverpool for Palhinha, with the Reds said to have explored a move for the 27-year-old before he joined Fulham in the summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

If Tottenham to sign a midfielder during the current transfer window, it will likely be a number eight in the mould of Frank Kessie or Weston McKennie. I do not see the point of signing yet another number six as that is an area where we are fairly well stocked at the moment.
