Report: Tottenham eyeing potential deal for Roma starlet

According to a report from Tuttomercatoweb, Tottenham Hotspur hold an interest in signing Roma starlet Ebrima Darboe.

Darboe joined Roma back in 2017 when he was just 16 years of age and after coming through the youth ranks, made his senior debut for the club at the end of last season.

The 20-year-old central midfielder has already been capped twice by the Gambian national team this year. He has only made two appearances for Jose Mourinho’s men so far this campaign, one each in the Europa Conference League and the Serie A.

TMW reveal the midfielder’s current deal runs out in 2023 and the Roma management have met with his representatives to discuss a contract extension.

It is explained that the Giallorossi rate the youngster highly and see him as an important part of their future plans.

However, Darboe is thought to be attracting interest from England, with Tottenham allegedly monitoring his situation. Additionally, the report mentions that Fulham also have their eyes on the Roma academy graduate.

There is certainly a pattern emerging with the type of central midfielders that Fabio Paratici seems to be pursuing. Both Pape Matar Sarr and Ilaix Moriba (who we eventually missed out on) are young, athletic, technically gifted and quite versatile. Darboe too has a very similar profile.
