Report: Tottenham favourites to complete summer deal for 25-year-old striker

If reports coming out of France over the last two months are to be believed, then it looks as if Tottenham are scouting the French market for a new centre-forward this month.

The likes of Serhou Guirassy (Daily Mail), M’Baye Niang (L’Equipe) and Victor Osimhen (Soccer Link) have all been mentioned as potential options for Spurs.

However, the latest reports in France indicate that FC Metz striker, Habib Diallo may be the man the North Londoners are closest to landing.

Spurs reportedly sent scouts to France to watch Diallo in action earlier this season (TEAMtalk). The Senegal international has now notched up 12 goals in 26 league appearances for the club (transfermarkt.com).

The striker’s agent, Thierno Seydi, revealed last month that Metz had an offer from Spurs rejected for Diallo in January (Senegalese Press Agency via GFFN).

La Semaine have now established Tottenham as the favourites to land the 25-year-old.

In fact, the report asserts that the striker’s departure from the Stade Saint-Symphorien is ‘beyond doubt’ in the summer and reveal that the Premier League is likely to be his next destination.

Spurs Web Opinion

I am not surprised that we seem to be looking towards the French market given the expertise of our coaching staff, some of whom have worked in Ligue 1. Additionally, it is clear that several top-flight French clubs are in a financially unenviable position due to the cancellation of the season. Therefore, there could potentially be some great bargain deals to be had.
