Report: Tottenham fear that this player will now leave on a free

Tottenham Hotspur are now reportedly worried that Toby Alderweireld will leave on a free transfer come the end of this season after they failed to cash in on him this summer (Mirror).

The Belgian, much like his partner Jan Vertonghen, has just one year left on his contract at Tottenham.

However, Spurs will not be in a hurry to lose one of their top two defenders without even receiving compensation for his departure.

Unfortunately, Daniel Levy and Mauricio Pochettino may have no say in Toby’s future, as the player himself is said to be keen to let his contract run down in order to determine his own future.

As it stands, Alderweireld would be able to talk to foreign clubs about a move in January.

Toby joined Spurs back in 2015 and has since played 165 games for the club, becoming one of the best central defenders in world football (Wikipedia).

Spurs Web Opinion:

Give this man £200,000 per week and get him to sign a new three-year deal with an option to extend for another year.
