Report: Tottenham given boost in pursuit of La Liga midfielder

Tottenham Hotspur have received a boost in their pursuit of the La Liga midfield man Pablo Fornals.

Italian side Napoli had been credited with a long-standing interested in the Villareal midfielder, but have apparently now dropped out of the race (CalcioNapoli24).

They had offered Fornals a 1.5 million Euro per season contract for five years, but have since fallen away due to increased competition for his signature.

This competition is said to come in the form of North London duo Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal, who are both interested in the player.

Fornals is said to have a buyout clause of between 25 and 30 million Euros, which would be more than affordable for both Premier League sides.

Spurs may be on the lookout for midfielders in the summer, as their only piece of transfer business this season was to sell Mousa Dembele to China.

The future of Christian Eriksen is also up in the air, with the Dane only having a year left on his contract at the end of this season.
