Report: Tottenham handed boost in pursuit of £40m man as rivals cool interest

Tottenham Hotspur will surely still be on the lookout for a Mousa Dembele replacement after selling the central midfielder in January this year.

When fit, the Belgian had previously been a mainstay in the Spurs midfield under Pochettino, however, could Tottenham look to replace him with his fellow countryman.

Reports indicate that Tottenham are interested in Belgian midfielder and Monaco man Youri Tielemans (Sky Sports).

The player was on loan at Leicester City for the second half of the 2018/19 campaign and managed to rack up three goals and four assists in just 13 games for The Foxes.

Tielemans is said to be worth something in the region of £40m, a price that would surely fall into Tottenham’s bracket (Daily Mail).

Spurs have also received a boost in their pursuit of the player, with Leicester apparently cooling on their interest due to the price tag (Telegraph).

With Manchester United also said to be lurking, Tottenham may be better suited to bag the deal earlier rather than later (Sky Sports).

Spurs Web Opinion:

I would place Tanguy Ndombele at the top of my list for central midfielders this summer for Spurs, followed by Donny Van de Beek, and then Youri Tielemans. Definitely a player worth keeping an eye on, as Monaco seem willing to sell seeing as they recently loaned him out. However, I would explore other avenues before bidding for the Belgian.
