Report: Tottenham handed boost in race for Spanish U-21 star

Tottenham Hotspur certainly had their eyes on the European U21 Championships this summer, as they have since been linked with two of the competition winners.

Spanish central midfielder, Dani Ceballos, has been tipped for a move to Tottenham from Real Madrid this summer (Sky Sports), while Dinamo Zagreb winger Dani Olmo is also a rumoured target (Mucho Deporte).

The Express claim that Tottenham, Liverpool, Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, Valencia, and Olmo’s former club, Barcelona, are all said to be interested.

However, United may already be out of the race, as Mundo Deportivo claim that Olmo will only make a move to a Champions League team if he does leave Croatia this summer.

Manchester United only qualified for the Europa League last season after finishing sixth in the Premier League.

Olmo’s agent has also hinted that German giants, Bayern Munich, may be a favourite for the Spanish U21 star this summer, if they pay Dinamo Zagreb’s asking price.

Andy Bara said (Express): “Bayern is a big club, and there’s no player on this planet who doesn’t want to play for such a club.

“They have the best scouts in the world and if there’s interest, they can pay Dinamo’s asking price and the salary of such a player.”
