Report: Club set to offer new contract to rumoured Spurs target

Tottenham Hotspur may be looking to strengthen their side come the January transfer window, with new boss Jose Mourinho yet to put his mark on the squad.

Mourinho has started well as the boss of the Lilywhites, but he is effectively working with a Mauricio Pochettino squad, rather than a team of his own making.

One player who Spurs have been linked to of late is Lyon forward Memphis Depay, a player who did actually work under Mourinho at Manchester United (CalcioMercato).

Liverpool are also said to be looking at the Dutch star ahead of a potential move back to the Premier League.

However, the Lyon president, Jean Michel Aulas, has now claimed that his team plan on offering Depay a new contract at the club.

Despite this, Aulas does concede that it will be up to Depay as to whether he signs the new deal or seeks an exit away from Lyon.

He said (BeIN Sports via GetFootballNewsFrance): “We will make him a contract extension offer because he is an exceptional player. He will be the one who will ultimately decide. He is a sweet boy, an interesting man.”
