Report: Tottenham have £17m offer for defender rejected

Brazilian journalist, Andre Hernan has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur have had an offer rejected by Shaktar Donetsk for defender Domilson Cordeiro dos Santos, commonly known as Dodo.

With just two weeks left until the transfer window shuts, Tottenham are reportedly on the lookout for a new right-back, among other positions.

Bologna’s Takehiro Tomiyasu was alleged to be close to completing a move to the North London club a couple of weeks ago.

However, the move has not progressed as some would have hoped despite the conclusion of the Olympics.

If Hernan’s latest update is to be believed, it looks as though the Lilywhites have now turned their attention to another right back in Dodo.

The 22-year-old left his native Brazil to sign for Shaktar in 2017 and, following a brief spell out on loan, has excelled over the last two campaigns.

The Shaktar star has represented Brazil at Under-17, Under-20 and Under-23 levels but is yet to win a senior cap for the Selecao.

Hernan has claimed that Spurs made an offer of €20m(£17m) for Dodo but it was turned down by Shaktar.

The journalist added that the Ukrainian champions were willing to sell the right-back for a higher price.

Given what we know about the way Paratici operates, it is not surprising that we would be negotiating for multiple right-backs before settling on one.

I also do wonder if Tanganga could make enough of an impression on Nuno (and Paratici) to potentially cause them to rethink how much of a priority signing a new right-back really is this summer.
