Report: Tottenham have apprehension about appointing 36-year-old manager

The Daily Mail have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are having some doubts about pushing ahead with a move for Vincent Kompany due to the Burnley boss’ lack of managerial experience.

Some sources have revealed over recent weeks that Spurs are looking for a young, up-and-coming manager, who can build a longer-term project at the club on the back of the failed Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte experiments over recent years (beIN SPORTS).

Kompany is one of the names who has been mooted as a potential option for the Lilywhites, with The Guardian first reporting two weeks ago that the Tottenham hierarchy are impressed by the job the 36-year-old has done at Turf Moor.

The Sun then asserted on March 30 that the Belgian had become the leading contender for the Spurs job and added that he would be interested in taking over the North London club at the end of the season.

The Mail have now become the latest publication to report on Tottenham’s interest in Kompany but they explain that the Premier League club are having ‘apprehensions’ about making a move for him since he lacks experience at the top level.

The report adds that Spurs are also aware that it might be ‘hard to convince’ the Man City legend to take the job if Burnley win a promotion to the top flight.

While Kompany is undoubtedly a promising young manager, Spurs would be taking a huge gamble by hiring him, given his lack of experience.

The 36-year-old is also not the sort of exciting appointment that would convince the likes of Kane of the club’s ambition.
