Report: Spurs have asked to be kept informed about about 34-year-old ahead of January

According to Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur could push ahead with a potential move for Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud when the transfer window reopens in January.

Tottenham were linked with a move for Giroud in January of this year after Harry Kane picked up a hamstring injury (Daily Mail), with the Frenchman later admitting that Chelsea blocked him from completing a transfer to Spurs (Telefoot).

Recent reports suggest that the former Arsenal man is keen to leave Stamford Bridge in order to get regular football under his belt ahead of the Euros next summer (Guardian).

Giroud came off the bench in the second half of yesterday’s London derby and was unable to capitalise on Joe Rodon’s late misplaced header to break the deadlock.

Tottenham now do seem to have a reliable back up to Kane in the form of Carlos Vinicius, who opened his Spurs account with a brace against Ludogorets last week.

However, Football Insider claims that Jose Mourinho is wary of Kane’s history of picking up injuries in the second half of the season and admires Giroud’s specific skill-set.

The report claims Spurs have asked Chelsea to keep them informed about Giroud’s situation, with the likes of Inter Milan, Lazio and West Ham also said to be interested in the 34-year-old.
