Report: Tottenham have been alerted to Atletico Madrid star’s availability

The Daily Express have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur have now been alerted to the availability of Atletico Madrid striker Joao Felix.

Felix has not quite been able to live up to expectations since his £114m move (Daily Mail) from Benfica to Atletico back in 2019.

However, the 22-year-old had his best season to date at the Wanda Metropolitano in 2021/22, scoring 10 goals and providing six assists across all competitions before an injury ended his campaign prematurely in April (Transfermarkt).

Barca Times journalist Shay Lugassi has revealed that Diego Simeone is willing to cash in on Felix this summer and the forward has been offered to a number of clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain.

According to The Express, Tottenham have emerged as a contender for the Portuguese international’s signature following the news of his availability.

The report claims that Spurs could explore the possibility of using Giovani Lo Celso as a makeweight in the deal to bring Felix to North London, given Atletico’s interest in the Argentine.

It is alleged that Simeone may be tempted to accept a cash plus a player offer from Antonio Conte’s men.

Spurs Web Opinion

Joao Felix is a sensational talent and his ability to play across the front three would make him a perfect fit for Spurs. However, this report from The Express seems more like guesswork rather than being based on anything concrete. So, Spurs fans should not get their hopes up regarding a potential move for the Atletico star.
