Report: Tottenham have contacted German manager to replace Conte

According to a report from Bild, Tottenham Hotspur have already made contact with Eintracht Frankfurt manager Oliver Glasner about replacing Antonio Conte at the club.

Glasner has been in charge of Frankfurt since the summer of 2021 and has made great progress with the Bundesliga side.

The Austrian coach led his team to the Europa League title last year, beating Rangers in the final of the competition.

Frankfurt were drawn with Tottenham in the Champions League group stages this year and the German side held Spurs to a 0-0 draw at home, but were defeated 3-2 at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium. They were knocked out of the tournament after losing 5-0 on aggregate to Napoli.

Nevertheless, Glasner has impressed many with the style of play he has implemented at Frankfurt. The 48-year-old has already been linked with the top job at Tottenham earlier this month (Daily Mail).

Until recently, it was thought that Conte and Spurs would part ways in the summer when the Italian’s current contract expires (Daily Mail).

However, the club are now expected to sack Conte this week as a result of his recent criticism of the Tottenham hierarchy and players (Telegraph).

Either way, it appears Spurs may be needing a new manager sooner or later, and if that is indeed the case, Glasner could be the answer to their problems.

Bild claims Glasner has been stalling on accepting a contract extension offered by Frankfurt. His current contract expires at the end of next season.

The report adds that the reason Glasner hasn’t agreed a new deal with his current club could be due to Tottenham Hotspur reaching out and discussing a potential switch to North London. It is believed Glasner has already been primed as the potential replacement for Conte at Spurs.

Spurs Web Opinion

Glasner is a solid manager who has built a good squad at Frankfurt, and has proven he can compete at the highest level in Europe. He wouldn’t be my number one choice to take over at Spurs, but I also wouldn’t be opposed to his appointment either.
