Report: Tottenham have issued ultimatum to centre-back regarding transfer

According to Mundo Deportivo, Tottenham Hotspur have issued an ultimatum to Clement Lenglet by informing the Barcelona man that he has to make a decision regarding a transfer by the end of his week.

The speculation linking Lenglet with a move to Spurs has been growing steadily over the last few weeks, with Barca thought to be keen on getting the 27-year-old off their wage bill (Esport3).

The print edition of Sport – 27/06/22 (as relayed by Sport Witness) revealed on Monday that while Antonio Conte’s men want to sign the Frenchman on an initial loan deal with a purchase option, Roma are willing to sign the centre-back permanently.

Mundo Depertivo have now claimed that Spurs are close to agreeing on a loan deal with Barca for the centre-back after Roma failed to push ahead with a move for the player.

However, the report explains that despite Tottenham and Barca being close to an agreement, Lenglet has not given the green light for a move to North London.

It is alleged that Tottenham have now informed the France international that they expect a final answer from him this week.

It would be quite disappointing if we end up with Lenglet after being linked with the likes of Bastoni, Gvariol and Torres over the past couple of months. I am not convinced that the Frenchman would be an upgrade over Ben Davies in the left centre-back role.
