Report: Tottenham have made contact with Crystal Palace over midfielder

Tottenham Hotspur head coach has earmarked a move for Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha, according to Spanish news outlet Todofichajes.

The report claims that Tottenham have shown the most interest in recent times with Conte having put him on his transfer shortlist with a view to adding another dimension to his attacking options.

It is said that Tottenham have already made contact with Palace, who are resigned to his departure, but are still holding out for €45million (£37.4million) in order to sanction his exit from Selhurst Park.

The Mail reported last week that the Ivory Coast international is out of contract in the summer of 2023 and is not planning to extend his current deal.

Palace had put a high price tag on their star man in years gone by when clubs have expressed interest in him, with Tottenham, Chelsea and Bayern Munich all said to have been keen.

Zaha has certainly been in the headlines when he has come up against Tottenham this season, having clashed with Japhet Tanganga during the defeat at Selhurst Park in September which saw the Spurs man dismissed and the Palace player also saw red in the returning fixture in north London.

Zaha possseses plenty of trickery but is likely to command a hefty salary given he currently earns £130,000-a-week at Palace (Mirror).

Tottenham need to focus on strengthening other areas of the pitch before even considering a move for Zaha, with another central defender, a right wing-back and a creative midfielder hopefully on Fabio Paratici’s radar this summer.
