Report: Tottenham have no intention of selling 26-year-old this summer

Tottenham have no intention of selling Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg this summer, according to Football.London.

Hojbjerg provided another sturdy campaign, missing just two Premier League games as Spurs sealed their return to the Champions League (Transfermarkt).

The Denmark international emerged as a key man for Antonio Conte as he forged a strong partnership in midfield next to January signing Rodrigo Bentancur in the second half of the season.

However, he is expected to have another level of competition to contend with next year in the form of Yves Bissouma, who arrived from Brighton in a deal worth up to £35 million with add-ons (Sky Sports).

While Tottenham’s move to acquire the Mali international will bolster Conte’s options in the centre of the pitch, it is not expected to derail Hojbjerg’s place in North London.

Football.London have claimed Spurs do not intend to offload the 26-year-old this summer as they prepare to embark on a first full season under Conte.

Hojbjerg joined Spurs from Southampton in 2020 and hit the ground running under then manager Jose Mourinho, cementing a regular place in midfield.

He has been a near ever-present in the side since the move and he recently eclipsed the 100 appearance mark for the club (Transfermarkt).

Spurs Web Opinion

Hojbjerg emerged as such a dependable option in the second half of last season and was one of the leaders out on the pitch as Spurs secured fourth in the Premier League and a Champions League spot.

Unless Spurs receive a very tempting fee for Hojbjerg, it is hard to see them selling him on the back of the performances he put in towards the end of the campaign. It would likely make plenty of supporters unhappy too.
