Report: Tottenham have not held formal talks with Christian Eriksen yet

The Evening Standard have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are yet to hold formal talks with Christian Eriksen.

According to reports over recent weeks (ESPN), Spurs, Manchester United and Brentford are all keen on snapping up Eriksen, who is currently a free agent.

The Dane revealed last week that he has plenty of offers to choose from and admitted the decision on who to sign for is proving to be a difficult one (BT).

The Evening Standard have now revealed that Spurs have not held any formal discussions with Eriksen about returning to the club this summer.

The report claims that Antonio Conte is prioritising moves for a centre-back, a forward and a right wing-back at the moment.

This has also been backed up by Fabrizio Romano, who revealed that Spurs are focused on strengthening the three aforementioned positions first.

He added that Manchester United have made contact with Eriksen’s agent over a move to Old Trafford while Brentford are still in the running for the 30-year-old’s signature.

It is not surprising that Conte sees a right wing-back, a forward and a left centre-back as bigger priorities than an attacking midfielder. However, one would have thought that Spurs would have initiated contact with Eriksen, particularly given that he is available on a free transfer.
