Report: Tottenham have now fallen behind PL rivals in race for Arne Slot

According to The Sunday Mirror – 16/04, p70, Crystal Palace are currently the frontrunners to land Tottenham’s managerial target, Arne Slot.

Multiple outlets have talked up the chances of Slot being offered the Spurs job recently, with The Daily Star reporting two weeks ago that the Dutchman is part of the North London club’s four-man shortlist to replace Antonio Conte.

Last week, The Times reported that the Feyenoord boss fits the profile of a young progressive coach that Spurs are looking for but added that West Ham United and Palace were also on his trail.

Dutch football expert, Marcel Van der Kaan, subsequently confirmed to talkSPORT – on 13 April at 11 am that the Eagles do hold a ‘serious’ interest in Slot but added that the 44-year-old ‘would love to coach Tottenham’ if the Lilywhites came calling.

If The Mirror’s latest update is to be believed, Palace have now moved ahead of both Spurs and West Ham in the race for Slot’s signature.

The publication states that the club’s sporting director Dougie Freedman has already made contact with the Feyenoord head coach over replacing Roy Hodgson at the end of the season.

Spurs Web Opinion

One can understand why Palace would want to move quickly for Slot if they know that the Dutchman is on Tottenham’s shortlist.

If the 44-year-old is on Spurs’ radar, perhaps the North London club would reach out to him over the coming days and ask him to wait for a few weeks until they finalise their decision.
