Report: Tottenham have offered youngster a two-year contract 

Football Insider report that Tottenham Hotspur have offered academy defender Maeson King a two-year scholarship contract.

The report claims that Spurs have been working to fill their academy squad with top talents over recent months. As part of the process, the club have moved to offer several of their youngsters a scholarship contract.

It was reported previously that the North Londoners had offered two-year deals to 15-year-old attacker Samuel Amo-Ameyaw, and centre-back duo Archie Chaplin and Pele Arganese-Mc Dermott.

King has now become the latest player to be offered a two-year scholarship after impressing in his age group so far this season. Football Insider claim Tottenham want to secure the defender’s future within the coming weeks.

The report explains that usually Spurs wait until around February or March to offer scholarships but are now fast-forwarding the process to ensure the best young talent are not poached by other clubs.

We have seen quite a few talented young players being poached from Spurs over recent years, partly because they are convinced that the pathway to the first-team is easier at other clubs.

Perhaps, Fabio Paratici has brought about the change of offering scholarships earlier in order to reduce the player turnover at the club’s academy.
