Report: Tottenham have returned to past target in the last few hours

Calciomercato have now reported that Tottenham have returned for midfield target Weston McKennie in the last few hours.

The report claims that Juventus have made the central midfielder available for transfer with just a couple of days left in the summer window.

As such, Tottenham have returned, with Aston Villa also still in the running for the American. Everton are mentioned but their interest is said to be ‘secluded’ at this stage.

Juventus are reportedly looking for around €30m (£25.6m) from the potential sale and will use those funds to sign a new midfielder of their own. The report even predicts that ‘substantial news’ could arrive in the next few hours.

This comes after Massimiliano Allegri claimed McKennie would not be leaving this summer. He said (via Fabrizio Romano): “Weston McKennie has to stay here at Juventus, he’s not for sale. He’s part of the project and he can improve.”

Tottenham reportedly offered a potential swap deal involving McKennie and Tanguy Ndombele to Juventus earlier in the window.

Spurs Web Opinion:

It appears that Spurs are determined to get a right-sided defender and another central midfielder through the door before the window closes. Only time will tell whether they are able to but £25m for McKennie would be a great deal.
