Report: Tottenham have scouted attacker who scored three times at World Cup

ESPN have revealed that PSV Eindhoven star Cody Gakpo is on Tottenham’s radar ahead of the January transfer window.

Reports over recent months have indicated that Antonio Conte wants to sign attacking reinforcements in January, with Spurs expected to loan out Bryan Gil (Evening Standard).

The likes of Borussia Monchengladbach’s Marcus Thuram (90 min), Barcelona’s Memphis Depay (Daily Mail), Borussia Dortmund’s Youssoufa Moukoko (90 min), AC Milan’s Rafael Leao (CalcioMercato.it) have all been mooted as potential targets for the North London recently.

One more name that has been linked infrequently with a move to Tottenham is Gakpo, with GiveMeSport suggesting last month that Spurs could make a surprise move for the PSV Eindhoven star in January.

The 23-year-old has nine goals and 12 assists in 14 Eredivisie games this season and found the back of the net three times for the Netherlands at the World Cup (Transfermarkt).

ESPN have now become the latest publication to report on Spurs’ interest in Gakpo, stating that Conte’s men have scouted the Netherlands international this season.

Spurs Web Opinion

Gakpo is quite similar to Son and Richarlison as he prefers playing on the left or through the middle rather than on the right. I believe Spurs’ priority should be signing a right winger who can serve as a backup to Kulusevski.  Besides, the Dutchman’s value is highly inflated at the moment, and there are no guarantees that he will succeed in the Premier League.
