Report: Tottenham have scouted prolific 22-year-old regularly this season

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly watched Celtic’s Odsonne Edouard regularly this season ahead of making a potential move for the striker in the summer, according to The Times.

The PSG academy graduate has impressive since joining Celtic initially on a loan deal before sealing a permanent transfer two years ago.

The 22-year-old has been one of the most prolific forwards in Scotland during his time at Celtic Park. The Frenchman has scored 27 goals and provided 19 assists in 45 games this season (transfermarkt.com).

The Times report that Spurs are in search for a back up to Harry Kane and Edouard fits the bill of what the North Londoners are looking for.

However, it is also revealed that Neil Lennon is desperate for the Scottish champions to hold on to the striker for another season.

Edouard, who has two years left on his contract with the Glasgow giants, is said to be valued at £25million.

One cannot get carried away by Edouard’s goal tally considering that even a 37-year-old Jermaine Defoe is banging them in since his move to Scotland. However, Edouard is not just a goalscorer but an all-round forward. He is quite adept at playing in between the lines, holding the ball up or even beating defenders in one v one situations.

His style of play is very similar to Divock Origi in some ways. I believe the 22-year-old would be a solid addition as not only can he lead the line on his own but he can also play alongside Kane, as well as out wide.
