Report: Tottenham have set aside ‘big funds’ to sign one type of player this summer

Tottenham Hotspur may finally replace Harry Kane this summer, as sources at Football Insider claim the club have put aside ‘big funds’ to sign a new striker at the end of the season.

After losing their all-time top goalscorer last summer, many suspected Tottenham would move to bring in a big-name striker to take the place of Harry Kane.

That didn’t happen. Instead, Ange Postecoglou has relied on the attacking talents of Richarlison and Heung-min Son to keep the goals flowing in Kane’s absence.

The pair have done a fine job, too. Son now has 15 goals and eight assists this term, while Richarlison has 11 goals and three assists.

Whether Spurs finish in the top four and qualify for the Champions League or not remains to be seen, but either way, it is thought a big summer lies ahead for Postecoglou and the Lilywhites.

Spurs set to sign big-name striker this summer

Now, a report from Football Insider suggests Spurs will finally make a move for a “new striker,” with “big funds” set aside to make that happen.

Apparently, Spurs have been “laying the groundwork” to land a “marquee” signing in the summer, with the club “keen to boost their firepower” with a new forward.

It is thought that the decision to sign Timo Werner permanently or not, will not impact the search for a “big name” striker. Sources suggest the target will be an “A-list out-and-out striker” who has the “potential to replace Kane long-term.”

Spurs Web Opinion

We definitely need a proper striker this summer, and I think the game against West Ham in particular really showed that we are lacking exactly that. We need someone who will get in and around the box, make life difficult for defenders, and pounce on all the crosses we create from the wide areas.
