Report: Tottenham have submitted a bid for Man Utd starlet who is up for sale

The Sun’s Alan Nixon has reported on Patreon that Tottenham Hotspur have launched an offer for Manchester United midfielder James Garner.

Garner, who has come through the ranks of the Man United academy, excelled on loan at Nottingham Forest over the last year and a half.

The 21-year-old has featured in United’s pre-season friendlies under Erik Ten Hag during the summer but was an unused substitute in the club’s first two Premier League games against Brighton and Brentford.

The Athletic reported on Monday that Ten Hag had decided Garner should be allowed to leave if a suitable offer comes in for the youngster.

The report added that Spurs are one of the clubs interested in the midfielder, who is allegedly valued by the Red Devils at £14m. The Telegraph even claimed Spurs were leading the chase alongside Forest.

Nixon has now revealed that Antonio Conte’s men have launched an opening offer for Garner in the hope of securing his signature.

The report suggests that Tottenham view the youngster as a long-term project but want him to be part of the first team if they win the race for his signature.

However, the journalist added that the North London club’s offer falls short of United’s asking price and so Spurs would have to come up with a better bid in order to land Garner.

It is understandably why Tottenham would be interested in Garner as we need to add homegrown players to our squad. One would expect us to be keeping tabs on the most promising young British talent following the arrival of Andy Scoulding to the club this summer.
