Report: Tottenham have tabled opening bid for right-back Djed Spence

Tottenham Hotspur have tabled a €20million (£17.1million) offer for Middlesbrough defender Djed Spence, according to Football Transfers.

Spence spent last season on loan at Nottingham Forest and played a key role in helping Steve Cooper’s side to secure a return to the Premier League following a play-off final victory against Huddersfield Town.

The report claims there has been substantial interest in the 21-year-old with the likes of Bayern Munich among over ten clubs to have made their interest in the right wing-back known.

Tottenham, along with Forest, are the two clubs who are said to have made a bid and the player has built a close affinity to the City Ground outfit during his loan stint.

Spence, however, has not made a firm decision on where he will play his football next season with the lure of Champions League football currently in the way of him putting pen to paper on a permanent deal at Forest.

Spence is likely to be first-choice at Forest next season and get to experience top flight football week in, week out. However, at Spurs he is likely to face a more difficult battle to hold down a place in the starting eleven in north London.
