Report: Tottenham hold an interest in Ajax star and could make summer approach

Tottenham Hotspur are said to hold an interest in Ajax right-back Sergino Dest and could make a move for him this summer, according to reports from Italy.

Dest has broken into Ajax’s senior side this season and established himself as the club’s first-choice right-back.

The 19-year-old has five assists for the reigning Eredivisie champions in twenty league appearances this campaign (transfermarkt.com).

With Kyle Walker-Peters (Sky Sports) and Juan Foyth (Football Insider) both expected to leave Spurs this summer, the club could be in the market for a new right-back.

Spurs were first linked with a move for Dest last October (Bleacher Report) after the defender had just broken into the Ajax side.

Calcio Mercato now reports that the Lilywhites still retain an interest in the USA international, whose contract with Ajax runs out in 2022.

However, Tottenham will have to move quickly if they wish to land the youngster with Bayern Munich also said to be interested in signing him (Sky Sports Germany).

Spurs Web Opinion

I believe that we are likely to go for one of either Max Aarons or Thomas Meunier this summer. While Aarons seemed to be our first-choice right-back target until a month ago, reports seem to indicate that we have shifted our attention to trying to sing Meunier on a free transfer due to the financial impact of the coronavirus shutdown.
