Report: Tottenham hold talks with La Liga hitman’s agent

After two windows of complete inactivity, reports indicate that Tottenham are ready to invest considerably into their squad this summer (Daily Mail).

While central midfield and full backs are priority areas for the club to address this window, Spurs also might require another striker with reports indicating that Fernando Llorente will leave the club after this season (Daily Mail).

Now, a report in the Daily Star claims that Spurs have held conversations with the agent of Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez. The report claims that Spurs are about to move for the Uruguayan after both Liverpool and West Ham have cooled their interest in him.

The 22-year-old striker has been in prolific form this season netting 13 goals and registering 5 assists in La Liga this term.

Gomez’s goals were crucial to Celta avoiding the drop, and according to the Guardian, the Spanish club have inserted a £43.5 million release clause in the striker’s contract.

Spurs Web Opinion

While Llorente has performed admirably whenever he has been called upon this season, we at Spurs Web believe the club need to replace the Spaniard with a younger striker to be an understudy to Harry Kane.

Gomez fits the bill perfectly as apart from his goalscoring ability, he is also capable of holding the ball up and playing as a target man.
