Report: Tottenham hold the upper hand with interest in Arsenal target

Tottenham Hotspur hold an advantage over North London rivals Arsenal in their rumoured pursuit of Houssem Aouar, according to French news outlet Le10Sport.

The report claims that Arsenal have already tabled a offer of under €20m (£17m), while Lyon are holding out for a fee in the region of €25m (£21.3m).

While Arsenal are currently considered frontrunners, it is claimed that Spurs could have the upper hand should the two clubs go head to head due to being in a stronger financial position than the Woolwich.

Journalist, Julien Laurens has also taken to Twitter to claim that Spurs are also in the race to land the creative midfielder.

Aouar played 33 times in all competitions for Lyon last season, scoring eight goals and providing four assists (transfermarkt).

SpursWeb Opinion

Spurs are at the very least able to offer Aouar the chance of playing European football next season while the Gunners will sit out continental competition for the first time in a while.

We have been desperately lacking someone who can play a killer pass to unlock the opposition defence since we lost Christian Eriksen to Inter Milan, however, Aouar’s assist numbers last season were not the impressive.
