Report: Tottenham hope to ‘take advantage’ of FFP regulations this summer

The Times have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur hope to take advantage of the financial troubles of some of their Premier League rivals to land some key targets this summer.

It has been widely reported that Spurs are expected to be quite busy this summer in terms of both incomings and outgoings as Ange Postecoglou tries to put his own imprint on the squad and close the gap with the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal.

It was even asserted by Football Transfers a couple of weeks ago that the Australian would be handed a huge transfer kitty of around £200-£250m this summer to strengthen the side.

Tottenham are ready to flex financial muscles

The Times have now pointed out that Spurs are not in any immediate danger of falling foul of the PSR or FFP regulations, unlike some of their rivals.

The report says that the Lilywhites are ready to take advantage of other Premier League clubs needing to sell some of their players for financial reasons.

It is pointed out that a few clubs have to raise funds before the end of June, with Tottenham thus thought to be plotting early moves for the likes of Conor Gallagher and Morgan Gibbs-White.

Like last summer, Postecoglou would want most of the key signings to be completed quite early in the summer so that the incoming players can have a full pre-season under their belt.

The fact Forest, Chelsea and a few other clubs have to sell their players by the end of June thus works to Tottenham’s advantage.
