Report: Tottenham Hotspur fans’ footballer of the year award announced

Harry Kane has been crowned the Tottenham Hotspur fans’ footballer of the year in the annual awards voting carried out by the Reach PLC Group.

2022 has been a fantastic year overall for Kane, who helped Tottenham finish fourth last season and secure Champions League qualification, before going on to enjoy a prolific first half of the season this term before the international break.

Kane scored 13 Premier League goals in the second half of the last campaign and provided eight assists as Spurs pipped London rivals Arsenal to fourth place, and also contributed three goals in the FA Cup (Transfermarkt).

It’s been a similarly exceptional start to this season, too, with Kane bagging 13 goals in 22 games across all competitions before the domestic season paused for the World Cup (Transfermarkt).

The 29-year-old has put in some phenomenal individual displays during this calendar year, too. His two goals and general all-round play in the win against Manchester City back in February stand out as the marker of one of the all-time great Premier League performances.

According to the poll, Kane was the clear winner among Spurs fans, receiving 36% of the votes to take the crown as Tottenham’s fans’ footballer of the year.

His closest rival was Rodrigo Bentancur, who had 27% of the votes (FootballLondon). The Uruguayan midfielder has made an incredible impact since arriving in North London in January, and has had a particularly impressive campaign so far, with five goals and two assists in 21 games (Transfermarkt).

Fellow new arrival Dejan Kulusevski came in third, with 26% of the votes. Kulusevski has had a similarly huge impact at Spurs, and there’s no doubt that his five goals and eight assists in the back end of last season were integral to the club securing Champions League football (Transfermarkt).

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg came in fourth, but had significantly fewer votes with just an 11% share of the support from fans.

Spurs Web Opinion

I think it’s fair to say Harry Kane has been the standout performer for Spurs this calendar year, as he is most years. He’s scored so many goals this year, but it’s not just that, his all-round play is just getting better and better and he is pretty much a complete player now.
