Report: Tottenham Hotspur open negotiations with Atletico Madrid for forward

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in bringing the Atletico Madrid forward, Thomas Lemar, to the new White Hart Lane.

Diario AS report that Spurs head coach, Jose Mourinho, is a big fan of the former Monaco star, and has passed this onto those in charge of transfers in North London.

Despite the fact that Lemar became Atletico’s record signing back in 2018, he has since lost his place in the regular starting line-up to Joao Felix.

In the 2019/20 season, Lemar has not scored a single goal or registered an assist, and hasn’t completed 90 minutes in La Liga since the end of October (Transfer Markt).

Compare this to his best season for Monaco in Ligue 1 back in 2016/17 when Lemar bagged 14 goals and 18 assists in 55 games (Transfer Markt).

The most recent report linking Spurs and Lemar comes from Foot Mercato who go as far to say that Spurs have opened negotiations with Atletico over the player.
