Report: Tottenham Hotspur pushing to sign Serie A star

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly pushing to bring in Torino midfielder Soualiho Meite to the club in January, according to Italian publication Gazzetta Dello Sport. Spurs have found themselves short of midfielders recently with the likes of Wanyama, Dier, and Dembele out due to long-term injuries.

This has meant that Pochettino has had to stick with a pairing of Sissoko and Winks for most of Tottenham’s recent ties. While the pair have performed admirably, it is clear that Tottenham need more options in the position, particularly with Mousa Dembele reported to be close to completing a move to China.

Soualiho Meite is just the latest midfielder to be linked with the club in recent weeks after the likes of the likes of Tanguy Ndombele, Franck Kessie, Sander Berge and Julian Weigl.

Meite has had a terrific first half of the season with Torino, having made 17 Serie A starts so far, after signing from Monaco last summer. While the 24-year-old is yet to be capped by the French national side, he has certainly caught people’s eye with his performances in the middle of the park so far.

Gazetta Dello Sport state (as reported by HITC) that Roma are also interested in bringing the Frenchman to the Italian capital. Meite does fit the profile of a typical Tottenham singing with age still on his side and Pochettino might be the right guy to help the 24-year-old fulfil his potential.
