Report: Tottenham identify PL playmaker as Eriksen replacement

Christian Eriksen has been linked with a move away from Tottenham as the club has failed to agree on a contract extension with the Dane so far.

While the club could still pull something out of the bag, time is running out with just 18 months left on the midfielder’s contract.

This means that Spurs have to prepare for the possibility of selling Eriksen in the summer as his contract will be down to its final year. It doesn’t come as a surprise that the club are looking for potential replacements for the 26-year-old.

According to a report in The Daily Mail, Tottenham have identified Leicester City midfielder James Maddison as a replacement for the Dane.

Maddison has had a great first season in the Premier League after joining from Norwich City last summer.

The 22-year-old has put in some stellar performances for the Foxes, scoring 5 goals and assisting 4 others so far this season.

While Maddison will certainly prove expensive given how well he has adapted to life in the top flight, Pochettino could be the right man to help the youngster fulfill his unbelievable potential.
