Report: Tottenham ‘in advanced’ talks to sign midfielder wanted by Conte

According to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport (as relayed by GIFN), Tottenham Hotspur are ‘in advanced talks’ to sign AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie next summer.

Kessie’s current deal expires at the end of the season and Milan have so far been unsuccessful in their attempts to tie the midfielder down to a new contract.

After Antonio Conte was appointed as the Spurs head coach, The Telegraph reported that the Milan star was one of the players the Italian had told Tottenham to bring in.

The report further added that the Ivory Coast international was keen on a move to the Premier League.

Gazzetta have now claimed that the midfielder is moving ‘further and further away’ from the San Siro. Talks between the 24-year-old’s entourage and Tottenham are thought to be at a very advanced stage.

It is explained that Kessie wants to leave the Rossoneri at the end of the season as a free agent, with Spurs ready to meet his salary demands of €8m (£6.8m) per season.

The report adds that Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in the Milan midfielder but that Conte is expected to convince him to join Tottenham.

Spurs Web Opinion

It would not come as a surprise if Conte has urged Spurs to snap up Kessie as the Ivorian’s attributes are perfectly suited to the demands that the Italian puts on midfield players in his system. However, the 24-year-old’s arrival at Spurs could well spell the end of Ndombele’s and Dele’s time at the club.
