Report: Tottenham in pole position to beat Atletico Madrid to Spanish attacker

Tottenham Hotspur have already had somewhat of a busy transfer window, after signing both Tanguy Ndombele and Jack Clarke in the space of a few hours (BBC).

However, since then, Spurs have not announced any further signings or sales this summer.

One man who they have been heavily linked with in the past week or so is Dinamo Zagreb attacker, Dani Olmo (MuchoDeporte).

Olmo shone recently at the U21 European Championships for Spain, winning the entire competition.

The 21-year-old is said to be determined to leave Croatia this summer, with Tottenham in pole position to secure his signature before the new season (AS).

The report also states that Atletico Madrid are also keen on the Spanish winger, but Tottenham are leading the race in a £27m deal.

Olmo is said to be keen on a return to his homeland Spain after spending some time training with Barcelona earlier in his career, but Spurs and the Premier League is also a big draw.

Spurs Web Opinion:

To be honest, I can’t say I’m too keen on this deal. I have barely seen the lad play, and I believe that £27m could be better utilised in other positions. With the likes of Heung Min Son and Lucas Moura, as well as Erik Lamela, Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli, and more, do we need another winger/attacking mid? I would rather invest in a right-back, a striker, and a big name replacement if Eriksen does leave.
